I was reading this poem and out popped Morrissey:

This community has some great people.  Independent-minded, sensitive, emo, hard-rocking, creative and real.  So, I thought that many of you would like to hear about another community, which might be very relevant right now.  Because, I get concerned when the good people have hard times.

Some of you are locked-down, lonely, and some may even be ill.  And some of you may have information and compassion you'd like to contribute to others during the coronavirus crisis.  So, I would just like to invite you all to join or follow  [livejournal.com profile] anti_viral .    It's a place for community and discussion - and resources.  It's not more of the same telebabble.  It's a first rate, top-100 people place.   Join and keep LiveJournal alive!

And, if you are ever in trouble, or want to help others in trouble, join [livejournal.com profile] crisis_911.  Spread the word! Let the resistance begin!

Thanks!

Indie Pop/ Folk/ Soft rock - / https://goldrushalaska.bandcamp.com/album/love-like-thieves-3

Could it be improved by any particular kind of voice - male or female?

Portlandia is ruining Portland: feminist bookstore publicly cuts ties with show

‘Fuck Portlandia’ blogpost by In Other Words bookstore, the setting for many sketches, says the show ‘has had a net negative effect on the city as a whole’

Study finds indie rockers face business communication challenges
A new study from North Carolina State University finds that indie rock musicians face significant business communication challenges, requiring them to develop skills that are probably not what they had in mind when they decided to make a career out of rock n' roll.

Are you an aesthetic type, or are you cerebral? Next time you turn on the TV it could tell a lot about who you are.

The boho-drain: bohemians say goodbye San Francisco, hello LA

The once alternative city by the bay has become a playground for tech billionaires, so its artists are fleeing to an unlikely new home: la-la-land

Last night, NPR's, "World Cafe," zoomed in on LIZ PHAIR - especially her famous 1993 album, "Exile in Guyville." In fact, they decided to devote the entire two hours of the show to 1993. And I was amazed! So much of my favourite music comes from that year?! I don't know why. It was a stellar year for Indie music - and also for other expressive music and grunge... Liz Phair, the Cranberries, Mazzy Star, Bjork, Belly, U2, Nirvana, Sting, Sarah McLachlan, Counting Crows... What a great time! And I don't know why! And it wasn't like I was entirely in the moment, because I didn't turn on to some of 1993 music, like Liz Phair, until the next millenium! But, yeah. So, I decided to list it for you - and let you listen... AND MORE...

The actual playlist of 8/4/16, World Cafe )
So, you can listen to MOST of these tunes, because here they are - with some groovy changes...  Check this out - World Cafe #TBT: 1993

NPR has been strongly pushing the new album by Niko Case, K.D. Lang and Laura Veirs. From what I've heard, it's pretty good. Deeply pleasant. - http://caselangveirs.com/

While listening to "World Cafe" tonight, I heard a song with lyrics I really like, from an album I've heard of. So, I will post these lyrics for you. I think they are in the vein of all country music: Leave the farm, go to the city, cry. I can relate. Can you? - http://www.songlyrics.com/margo-price/hands-of-time-lyrics/

That was nicely followed by a song by Courtney Barnett which has been around for a while, but I will also post this for you, as an example of HER great lyrics. I'm not sure if there are two versions out of this song. But let's not split peas. - http://www.songlyrics.com/courtney-barnett/avant-gardener-lyrics/ - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcnIhzaDTd0

I found this oddly interesting: The Moldy Peaches, http://www.moldypeaches.com/, of "Juno" fame, released their eponymous album in the U.S. on September 11, 2001. Oddly, it contained the song "NYC Is Like a Graveyard". - http://genius.com/The-moldy-peaches-nycs-like-a-graveyard-lyrics - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9lRSp75gtY

Morrissey accosted by TSA in San Francisco terminal.

Morrissey claims that when he tried to confront the offending security officer, he was repeatedly told, “That’s just your opinion.”

“Apart from ‘that’s just your opinion,’ he would not comment, even though, since the penis and testicles were mine and no one else’s, then my opinion must surely have some meaning,” Morrissey protested.

(At least it is great to hear that he is up and about, despite cancer! Now, I am eager to hear this incident transformed into some new song by the INDIE crooner. Or, what would be even better would be if he made a whole album about the National Insecurity State, just as Neil Young has done re: Monsanto and GMO's. PS - just an aside: I found this curious song today: http://songmeanings.com/songs/view/3458764513820555412/).

Oh - hey:

In a statement, TSA spokesman Mike England denied the officer did anything wrong.

“TSA takes all allegations of misconduct seriously and strives to treat every passenger with dignity and respect,” England said. “Upon review of closed-circuit TV footage, TSA determined that the supervised officer followed standard operating procedures in the screening of this individual.”

Hey-la. How's your year going so far? Looks like winter is settling in a little early this year...

So - I was looking into this community - and I'm like, "Weren't there like 2 or 3 times more posts here?"

I'm probably wrong. I have a lot of communities and even more dissociative states - idk. But, if anything seems weird to you, (excluding me), please let me know - like if you lost a post or a sock or something...

I've posted other music posts over at my bustling journal. Here's a special link for you guys... http://madman101.livejournal.com/tag/-posted%20to%20indie_lifestyle

(Maybe this will make up for all the ghost posts that maybe never even existed).

How awesome that he is sitting in a ghetto, with his black dog, just like madman!
World Peace is None of Your Business. )

btw - I have corresponded w/ Morrissey on the internet. It went a lot better than when I corresponded w/ Howard Stern. Let your mind reel.
